"Danish NemID Employee (business)" is an identification and signature method by which Danish business people can digitally sign business-related agreements on behalf of the company. It is also used for Virk.dk, Digital Post, private websites, digital signatures, etc.
NemID Employee is a secure and universal (in Denmark) identification and signature method. You can use NemID Employee as an identification and signature method with Addo Sign.
Note - If you need to sign with NemID Employee, you must log in with NemID Employee before you can view the document, and then simply approve it so that your NemID Employee stamp appears on the document.

All businesses, authorities, and associations using NemID for businesses must switch to MitID for businesses before the closure of NemID for businesses. To ensure a smooth and secure transition for critical and complex solutions and organizations such as municipalities and regions, the closure of NemID for businesses will not happen fully on June 30, 2023, as planned. Instead, there will be limited operation and a gradual winding down until October 31, 2023.
What is NemID Employee?
NemID Employee is currently Denmark's digital ID solution for business people. The Digitalization Agency is currently phasing out NemID with a new electronic eID solution. NemID will be phased out as the Danish signing and identification solution during 2023-2024 when MitID Employee (business) will replace NemID Employee. Of course, Addo Sign will support the new eID.
In terms of digital signatures, NemID Employee is an AeS (Advanced Electronic Signature) according to the eIDAS regulation (you can read more about eIDAS here). MitID Employee (business) will be specifically developed to, in the future, become a QeS (Qualified Electronic Signature), which is the highest level of authorization and security according to the eIDAS regulation.
A signature with AeS is just as legally binding as a physical signature. An AeS signature contains information about the signer that can be used in court to prove the validity of the signature. However, personal data is not visible to the person who needs to sign the document, and information is "locked" in the signed document.
When using NemID Employee, you can be sure that the people you send to, if they have NemID Employee and are authorized to sign, will be able to use the solution. Furthermore, you can be sure that it is the right person who has accessed and signed the document, as you will always be able to see who has accessed the document and only people who are authorized to sign for the specific CVR number.

Using NemID Employee for sending
In Addo Sign, you have two different options to set NemID Employee as the signature method. You can either do it before sending the document or in Templates. We will now go through both methods:
- Click on Send
- Click on Add Signer
- Click on the menu under Signature Method and select NemID Employee (NemID Employee Signature)"
- Insert the VAT number (CVR number) in the TAX-number field (it has to be a danish VAT/TAX number)
- Click Add
In the TAX number field, you must insert the CVR/VAT/TAX number for the relevant company where the signer is authorized. The field is required and you cannot proceed without providing a CVR/VAT/TAX number.
NemID Employee in templates
We will now go over how to change your template to use NemID Employee.
When a template is set to use a specific signature method, any send that uses the template will, as a starting point, use this signature method.
However, you can at any time before sending change the signature method to something else if you do not want this transaction to use NemID Employee.

- Click Templates
- Click on the template you wish to change. (If you want to create a brand new template, you can read more here)
You will now be led to a new page.
- Click on the menu below the Signing method and select NemID Employee.
- Remember to save at the bottom of the page.
How to sign with NemID Employee
When you have sent a transaction using the NemID Employee signature method, the customer will receive an email/SMS/e-bok, where they can access the transaction through the link in the message. After clicking on the link, they will now have to do the following:

Log in with key file
"Log in with key file" allows you to verify yourself with a digital online key file, which must be downloaded and stored locally on your computer. This key file is usually issued by an IT department and makes the person authorized to sign on behalf of the company. Once set up, it will appear as shown in the above picture with the employee's name and CVR number. This login method is most commonly used by medium-sized and large companies, as well as accounting firms, law firms, etc."
Log in with key card
The "NemID log in" method "Log in with key card" can also be selected. In this log in method, the personal CPR number is used, which will be linked to the company. This flow is identical to the normal procedure with private NemID, where the key card is used both in the App and physical form. This method is most commonly used by smaller companies, sole proprietorships, holding companies, etc.
Login as a company
The last method is the "Login as a company" method. Here, you need to validate your CPR number, and you will be informed if you are authorized to sign on behalf of the company through your CPR number. This method is often used by sole proprietorships, partnerships, etc.
Walk-through base on "Log in with key file"
- Click OK
- Type in your password and click OK
- Read and sign the document by clicking on it
- Click Sign document when you have read it
- Lastly click Proceed
Documents are now signed and the signature stamps are generated and sent to the chosen recipients.
What does the signature look like?
After the document has been signed, the desired recipients will receive a signed document that contains the unique NemID Medarbejder stamp. The way you can differentiate from NemID Medarbejder and NemID Privat is that NemID Medarbejder generates a RID number and NemID Privat generates a PID number. Each signer adds an extra stamp.
